Handisport Saint-Malo - Championnat de France des Régions
From January 25 to 27, swimmers from all over France came to Saint-Malô for the Championnat de France des Régions, the 2008 French Regional Swimming Champs for athletes with a disability. The competition was organized at the Piscine de Naye, the swimming complex close to the historical old city of Saint-Malo. For most of the particispants the event was yet an other test for the Paralympic Games, which will be held in September in Beijing, China. For

Double Dutch Open 2008
From January 18 to 20, the 2008 Double Dutch Open was held in Deventer, about an hour train ride from Rotterdam. Once again the main part of the competition was organized in the region's well-known recreation complex "De Scheg", which houses various wheelchair accessible sports facilities under one roof. The Double Dutch Open, which is held biennially, has attracted both disabled and non-disabled athletes from all over Europe for more than 10 years. When the event was initiated in 1993 by the Double Dutch Open Foundation it was originally planned as a swimming competition and first organized in the year of 1994. Due to the huge success the executive committee decided to expand the tournament with the inclusion of sitting volleyball and later wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis. For

Paralympic Skiing 2008 Abtenau

Natacion Adaptada Benicarlo
On December 15 and 16, 2007, amputee swimmers and swimmers with other disabilities met in Benicarlo, near Valencia, for the 2007 Spanish Short Course Swimming Championships for disabled athletes. Swimmers from all over Spain took part in the event, which was organized by the Benicarlo Council and the Comunidad Valenciana Federation of Adapted Sports in conjunction with other Spanish Sports Federations for athletes with a disability. Amputee Football World Championships
During the finals of the 2007 Amputee Football World Championships, the amputee soccer team of Uzbekistan beat the team of Russia with 2 : 1 and is new Amputee Football World Champion. The Amputee Football World Championship, which was held from November 11 to 21, was attended by Amputee Football players from Brazil, Sierra Leone, Russia, the Ukraine, England, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Iran, Liberia and France. The event was organized by the Turkish Sports Federation for Physically Disabled Athletes and the Turkish Football Federation and held in the soccer complex of the Topkapi Palace Hotel in the Southern Turkish city of Antalya. From the expected 12 teams only 11 managed to come to the competition, while the amputee football players from Nigeria could not take part because of financial difficulties. Due to visa difficulties the team of Ghana arrived late and did not compete in the championships. For

Sitting Volleyball German Championships Cottbus Kolkwitz
On October 13 and 14, 2007, Sitting Volleyball players from all over Germany met in Kolkwitz, near Cottbus, for the 2007 German Sitting Volleyball Championships for amputee athletes and athletes with other disabilities. Eurochamps Sitting Volleyball
Nyíregyháza, a city in the Eastern part of Hungary, hosted the 2007 European Championships in Sitting Volleyball for amputee athletes and athletes with other disabilities. During the event, which took place from September 4 to 8, teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Croatia, The Netherlands, Greece, Great Britain and other countries competed against each other. Once again the team of Bosnia and Herzegovina won the Gold Medal in the Men's competition, while the team of The Netherlands won Gold in the Women's competition. For

Paralympic Day 2007 Berlin
On August 23 thousands of Berliners and visitors of the German capital came to the Brandenburg Gate, where the International Paralympic Day 2007 was organized. They experienced a variety of Paralympic sports events, including Long Jump, Sitting Volleyball, Biathlon, Table Tennis, Football 5-a-side and Wheelchair Basketball. In a show match the German men’s U22 wheelchair basketball team defeated the women’s Chinese National Team by 54:22 and the National Team of Bosnia and Herzegowina in Sitting Volleyball managed to beat Germany two sets to one. During a match for blind soccer players Spain defeated Germany in the Football 5-a-side match. For

From July 20 to 22 Germany's top Paralympic athletes met in Singen for the 2007 German Athletics Open. From May 24 to 27, 2007, 450 swimmers with a disability from 28 nations came to Berlin for this year's German Swimming Open. The event, which was organized for the 8th time in the German capital, was an other chance for swimmers from around the world to prepare for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing. During the 4 days of the competition, athletes broke several records, including 40 World and 21 European Records. On May 12 and 13, 2007, the Vlaamse Liga Gehandicaptensport vzw (Flemish federation of sport for the disabled) and Wapper vzw (Sports club for athletes with an physical disability) organized the Belgian Paralympic Swimming Championships for athletes with a disability. Hamburg Sitting Volleyball 2007
On May 5 and 6, 2007 sitting volleyball players from around Europe came to Hamburg for the annually held Werner von Siemens Cup Sitting Volleyball Tournament. Esbjerg Danish Open Swimming 2007
From March 9 to March 11 swimmers with a disability from several European countries met in Esbjerg for this year's Danish Swimming Open for athletes with a disability. The First German Open in Table Tennis for

Achenkirch 2005
For most skiers with a disability the European
Cup in Achenkirch, Austria, held from April
7 to April 10, 2005 in Tyrol's ski resort
Christlum, high up in the mountains near lake
